One individual was killed in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, after gunmen invaded the village of Tere-Ama.
The explanation for the attack may be related to their daily extortion of business owners in the city.
Rivers State Police Command spokesman Nnamdi Omoni, who confirmed the incident, said Police Commissioner Joseph Mukan had directed the incident to be investigated with a view to arresting the perpetrators and unraveling the case.
Omoni further said that the victim’s corpse had been handed over for burial to his relatives.
“A man of about 30 years old was found dead in his pool of blood and he was released to his family for burial in line with Islamic rites as requested by family, because the victim is a Muslim.
“The CP has ordered investigations into the incident and we are at the trail of the killers.”
