The Nigerian Military has sent a massage to Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State to desist from speaking false information about the army, as this could affect the morale of the soldiers.
The governor after having his convey attacked had blamed the army for being responsible for the attack.
The incident occurred in July in Baga, a town in Borno State.
Zulum, accused the army of being incompetent and said if they couldn’t do their jobs he was ready to deploy hunters to secure the town.
But now, the army has come out with the results of their investigation and declared his allegations unfounded.
Felix Omoigui, the Deputy Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, said the governor’s remarks were capable of destroying the morale of the troops.
He said, “The governor of Borno state believed these allegations levelled against troops of the 19 Brigade in Baga given his recent utterances.
“Remarks of highly placed persons are capable of demoralising the troops which would negatively impact on operations and the confidence of the locals in the military.
“Allegations of such nature could be avoided if the military authority was contacted on issues concerning troops activities before going public.
“The realisations that the allegation emanated from security agencies could trigger reactions and animosity among troops and attendant negative consequences. He said.
