The Lagos State Police Command has deployed policemen to strengthen the security around primary and secondary schools in the state.
The police force of the state says the deployment is to prevent the abduction of school children considering the high rate of kidnap cases.
Lagos State, Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu during a press conference on Monday at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja said those in boarding schools would begin to witness an increasing number of policemen around their schools.
Odumosu assured parents that the deployment was a proactive and preventive step.
He also warned those in the business of kidnapping to stay away from the state, insisting anyone or groups arrested over their alleged involvement in abduction in any part of the state would be made to face the wrath of the law.
