The lock down has made several people seek entertainment indoors in a bid to overcome boredom. Some have even tried learning how to cook new dishes, some exercise, while other see movies.
You might be thinking you have seen all your favorite movies all over again, but have you considered Korean movies? They have a large number of followings all over the world.
Recently, a sensational Korean Actor, Lee Min Ho, whose birthday was on the 22nd of June, received lots of gifts and birthday wishes all over the world. The magnitude of post from his fans, even from Nigeria, trended on social media for days.
Personally, I developed keen interest for Korean movies after I saw “Boys Before Flowers” with Lee Min Ho starring as Gun Jun Pyo, and Ku Hye Sun as Geum Jan Di. I have seen this movie several times and it is still intriguing. You should try to see it if you haven’t. The movie revolves around the love story of the rich and arrogant heir, Gun Jun Pyo and the poor Geum Jan Di as they battle obstacles against their relationship, as a result of their different backgrounds. Before I get carried away narrating the whole movie, below are some of the interesting Korean Movies you should consider:
1. Vagabond: This is a 2019 South Korean movie, starring Lee Seung Gi as Cha Dal-Geon and Bae Suzy as Go Hae-Ri. Cha Dal-Geon is the only guardian of his nephew who was abandoned at an orphanage by his sister. He reluctantly took the child in but grew affection for him as he watched the child grow. However while on a plane to Morocco to represent the country’s taekwondo team, his nephew, Cha Hoon, was involved in a plane crash. Cha Dal-Geon thinks the Plane Crash might have been sabotaged because he realizes one of the boarders of the plane is alive. Together with Go Hae-Ri, an undercover NIS agent, they unravel deeper government secrets while trying to discover the truth behind the crash.
2. Oh My Ghost: This is a 2015 movie that dwells on the belief in Ghosts. Kim Seul-Gi who acts as Shin Soon-Ae finds herself as a vengeful ghost who doesn’t wants to ascend to heaven a virgin. She possesses human bodies to get this done but unfortunately, men she finds can’t withstand the energy of a ghost. She is told by a shaman that she needs to find a man of vitality in order to achieve her aim. She finally possesses Na Bong-Sun(Park Bo-Young) who is an introvert and works as an assistant chef to Kang Sun-Woo(Cho Jeun-Seok), a renowned Chef. Shin Soon-Ae has a jovial personality which improves the atmosphere at the restaurant which leaves the chefs wondering if she is bi-polar. She helps Na Bong-Sun to make her boss fall in love with her as she finds out that Sun-Woo is a man of vitality. Unknown to her, she was also falling for him. Watch as Kang Sun-Wo becomes conflicted on who has his heart, Na Bong-Sun or the ghost?
3. Uncontrollably Fond: Kim Woo-Bin is the leading actor in this 2016 movie, playing the role of Shin Joo-Young, a top star in the Korean entertainment industry. He meets with No Eul (Bae Suzy) his childhood friend who is a producer of documentaries. Due to the hit-and-run incident which killed her father, she is saddled with the responsibility of catering for her only family which is her brother, by paying for his education. He discovers that she has become a different person who loves money and can do anything for it and this change is due to the obstacles which placed before her. Unknown to her, Shin Joon-Young desperately tries to help No Eul reveal the truth behind her father’s accident through the documentary she produce for him and hides his terminal illness from the world.
