Whenever we hear the word eating healthy, a lot of people get confused. The phrase is not to confuse anyone rather to emphasise its benefits. The eating healthy implies consuming food that contains the adequate amount of nutrition needed for the body to grow. Thus, eating meals that are balanced and help boost the immune system in other to keeps us fit.  To eat healthy, one needs to understand the basics of nutrition, what each meal contains and how what we eat impact our bodies and minds.

An aspect of healthy eating that is often underrated and overlooked is drinks. Which involves staying hydrated and our choices of drinks. As activities take up fluids in the bodies. Hence, besides our meals, drinks too matters when eating healthy.

However, below are ways to eat health;

Do Not Skip Breakfast

I made this point first cause I kind of feel, everyone is guilty. We all get so busy that we hardly have time for our meals but if you are reading this and plan on eating healthy. Start with your morning meals. Don’t miss them.

Also, some think skipping breakfast helps them lose weight but not so true. As healthy breakfast with high fibre, low fat, sugar and salt is part of a balanced diet, that can help get the nutrients needed for good health.

Eat More of Starchy Carbohydrates

Having starchy carbohydrates make up third of your meal is healthy. This is because eating more of starchy carbohydrates means more of fibre and it help you feel full for long. Starchy carbohydrates consist of potatoes, bread, rice, pasta and cereals.

Eat More of Fish

Fish is an excellent source of protein. As it contains numerous minerals and vitamins. You may decide to eat fresh, frozen and canned, but go more for the fresh or frozen as canned contains lots of preservatives which are no so good. Also, smoked fish may have lots of salt which is not too healthy.

Take Lots of Fruit and Vegetables Daily

Vegetables and fruit are very health as they are fresh and contains lots of minerals and vitamin. They are however, recommended to make at least 5 portions our meals daily.

Drink a Lot of Water

Never go dehydrated as water serves the human body a lot. You need to drink a lot of fluids. To add to the ones you get from food.

This is an aspect of healthy eating that people often underrate. However, non-alcoholic drinks serve as fluid, but water, milk and lower sugar drinks, tea and coffee, are healthier fluid choices.

Eating healthy begins with conscious effort and then proceeds to habits and lifestyle. Having discussed the things to do to ensure you are eating healthy one can only anticipate that our menu will be improve to better our health.
