The situation in Mali is taking a different turn as military junta refuses the resolution reached at the summit had by the Economic Community of West African State, Ecowas, on Thursday.
Having deliberated the matter, The west African leaders called for the reinstatement of Mali President, Ibrahim Keita who was removed and arrested by the soldiers on Tuesday.
However, the Coup leaders refused.
According to the military juntas, they want a new president, be it civilian or military but never Ibrahim Keita.
The soldier said as they are already talking with political opposition parties, civil societies, the majority and everyone to see that a transitional president is elected.
“Elections will be held as soon as possible but we would make sure we follow and respect international agreement on fighting Jihadist.” – one of the coup leader Col Ismaël Wagué told TV channel France 24.
Gistongist gathered that nevertheless the call from United Nations that the president and Prime minister arrested should be released, the coup leaders are yet to release them.
