The people of Oguntedo community are currently protesting at the Lagos State house of Assembly calling on the government to come rescue the community from land grabbers.
Some of the residents of the community who said they have no where to live anymore, noted that they have lost lives and properties to the land grabbers.
The residents of Oguntedo community staged a protest to appeal to the state government to come to their rescue as Sars men supports land grabbers and threatens to kill them if they don’t leave the community.
Speaking with Gistongist during the protest at the Lagos state house of Assembly on Monday, one of the community leaders, Dayo Lateef-Olarinde noted that the land grabbers using hoodlums and Sars men, have destroyed all their properties, chasing them out of their own ancestral land with guns and other weapons.
“Economic activities has been grounded in the community as the houses and shops of the residents have been lotted, making live unbearable for them”. Lateef-Olarinde stated.
On her part, the wife of the Baale of the community, Fadilat Lateef said, “the land grabbers are not only terrorizing the community with Sars men who threatened to kill us, but have arrested my husband and two sons, compelling them to admit that they are armed robbers which they are not”.
Collectively, they plead with the State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-olu to do something about the situation as they had nowhere to go and can’t bear the loss of lives and properties anymore.
Responding to their grieviance at the house of Assembly, the Director Political Office of Civic Engagement, Hundein Kolawole appealed to the protester to be calm and rest assured that the Lagos State government will invite their leaders and land grabbers to resolve the issue.
